An August, 2007 trip to Ethiopia provided me the opportunity to complete a photo story entitled “Existence of Dismissal.” This is my poignant portrayal of the surgical and counseling work being done at the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital, and its branch facilities throughout the country, on behalf of women suffering from internal and psychological injuries sustained while giving birth. In addition, I took several street shots during the short moments between my visits to the hospitals and hotels.

My first visit to the Dutch County of Pennsylvania was in the Fall of 2005. I met an Amish family, who graciously invited me for a dinner at their home. As a result, I gained a first-hand understanding of and familiarity with the Amish people’s way of life.
